Staying True to Yourself

Little things is One Direction's newest song. The song was written by Ed Sheeran for them. The song is one of my favorite songs at the moment. It is sweet and 100% true. People like us, well SHOULD, for who we are and for our personality. Stuff like looks doesn't really matter. To me, what matters is personality and being true. Not pretending to be someone your not. I know I wouldn't want to be someone im not because then your not being who you really are. You are changing for someone else. So basically, stay true to yourself and don't change for other people.

After watching this I want anyone and everyone who watched it to comment on their thoughts and how the video made you feel.

Poetries Perspective

Famous

The river is famous to the fish.
The Poet: Naomi Shihab Nye

The loud voice is famous to silence,
which  knew it would inherit the earth
 before anybody said so.

The cat sleeping on the fence is famous to the birds
 watching him from the birdhouse.

The tear is famous, briefly, to the cheek.

The idea you carry close to your bosom
is famous to your bosom.

The boot is famous to the earth
more famous than the dress shoe,
which is famous only to floors.

The bent photograph is famous to the one who carries it
and not at all famous to the  one who is pictured.

I want to be famous to shuffling men
who smile while crossing streets,
sticky children in grocery lines,
famous as the one who smiled back.

I want to be famous in the way a pulley is famous,
or a buttonhole, not because it did anything spectacular,
but because it never forgot what it could do.

Naomi Shihab Nye
-From The Language of Life: a Festival of Poets, by Bill Moyers-

I really like this poem because it shows a lot of meaning. To me, it shows that everything has a purpose to it and that we all have a purpose. Also, it is a bit funny in the fact that it makes sense but no sense in parts. I really like her language in this poem and the way she chose to write it. This poem is so obvious but it has mystery. This poem only states the truth to me.

Granny Granny Please Comb My Hair

Granny Granny Please Comb My Hair
you always take your time
The Poet: Grace Nichols
you always take such care

You put me on a cushion between your knees
you rub a little coconut oli
parting gentle as a breeze

Mummy Mummy
she's always in a hurry-hurry
rush
she pulls my hair
she sometimes tugs

But Granny
you have all the time
in the world
and when you're finished
you always turn your head and say
'Now who's a nice girl?'
Grace  Nichols

I really like this poem because it is really sweet and simple. The author has taken something small, a little girl who wants her granny to comb her hair, and turned it into something sweet. I know I love getting my hair brushed. To me, it shows a sweet love between the girl and her grandma. It brings a smile to my face. I think that this poem has one of those "Awww!" moments to it. I love that about it. But after reading it it makes me think. Has her grandma left? does she miss her? or does she just want her grandma to comb her hair? Comment and tell me what you think about this poem, and if you have an idea on a background story to it.

If You Love Someone, Let Them Know

"I love you". 3 simple words that can mean soo much.

When someone says I love you, it should come from the heart. To me, the heart is where your feelings come from. Ever heard 'listen to your heart, or listen to your heart not your head or follow your heart?' Well if you say something it should mean something. You can't sat I love you for no reason, you can but would it mean anything? No, not really to me. When I say 'it should mean something', I mean like it should send a message. If you were dared to say it, it doesn't matter because it probably didn't mean anything.

Everyone loves their friends, not in the romantic type of way, but just as friends. They do soo much for us. A shoulder to cry on, support, sleepovers, shopping...and the list continues. The least we could do is thank them. All I know is good friends will always be their with you, to help you celebrate the best ties, and to be there for you when you cry. It doesn't matter how old they are, boy or girl, nationality, etc. All that matters is that they are there for you. I know I would die without my friends because they do soo much for me and support me with what every happens. Thats what good friends do.

Back to the title, "If you love someone, let them know". Lets just start off by saying that what is the point in loving someone if they don't know that? Love is a powerful passion that brings people  people together. Without it, where would we be? I imagine a lot of broken hearts, sorrow, pain, more wars, and people alone. We can;t live our lives without it. No matter how small the love is. Telling someone you love them s a stepping stone across a river. That being the first step take in the relationship, the first stone placed. Over tie, more stones will get added. As more get added, the relationship becomes stronger, and you keep moving down that path, across the rover. I finish on that note, with my tittle.

Our Script, Our Song

People tell their stories in different ways. Through art, song, dance, music, etc. Our stories are our past, experiences, our life. Our stories we share are a extension of us, in the fact that they share more about us and who we are.

I found a quote that I think links to this perfectly, “May the bridges I burn light the way.” - Unknown. To me this means that we light our way, we may not be in control of our path, but we light it up. We make the connections and that we should light the way in our own way, may we make them our own.

I think that people are their own script, our own song. Our story, our script. We write what happens in our life and can add  and re-write things in. But sometimes we can't re-write or edit those things. Thats when we should light the way and make it our own. Try to make out something that is good or something you can learn from that experience. And afterwards, you may realize it was a good re-write. But life is our own. We have the power to make it, or break it.

Song are a form of expression, they capture a specific moment or time. They express our feelings. Our love for one another, friends, family, hopes, dreams, It's all in their, in our story, in our song. I leave you wondering with what I have said.

I would love it if you commented with your idea of telling your story. Thank you.
